The healing properties of gemstones inspired the design of this soap. As the name suggests, the Ajoite stone is the main inspiration base. The identification of this stone is the blue-green colouring within Quartz stones. This is caused by the rare formation of a copper silicate mineral within the Quartz. The Ajoite crystal is a high-frequency stone with properties of healing, rejuvenation and nurturing. It also helps to achieve inner peace. The Quartz stone that the Ajoite minerals are incased in, helps to open the mind to self-love and the love of others. Below is an example of the Ajoite stone encased in Quartz.

This project's purpose is to explore the process of casting, branding and package designing. Following the design process, research about precedent soap and its relevant packaging concepts were explored. The images below show the research segment of this project and how the precedents led to the final product.

The silicone mould shown above was poured into the fabricated MDF and pine mould box. The setting time was approximately 14 hours to get to its full strength. The box was dismantled in order to eject the silicone. 

Once the silicone mould had been ejected, heated and coloured glycerine soap was poured in and allowed to set. The end result can be seen above.

The packaging above would be made use of for hotels that would like to provide their guests with a souvenir. This box allows for the storage and transport of the soap without breaking during travels and the box can later be used for other items once the soap has been used up.

However, if the soap is to be used simply for fresh-keeping within a hotel bathroom, a simple wrapable and disposable packaging can be used. Below is a template and of the packaging. The exterior is made from recycled cardboard and tissue paper, which have been printed on.
